My God there were SO many Disclosure Day plot holes (why and how could Emily Blunt change her appearance and read minds?) But I loved The Invite for all the reasons you list - it felt like a play with actors at the top of their game and Wilde and Rogen had believable chemistry both comedic and romantic. I'd hope that it's remembered at next year's awards run and remind people of just how good Wilde (and Booksmart) is when she's doing character-driven work.
She's just so fucking smart isn't she? I suspect the problem with Don't Worry Darling (which was a swinging a miss but at least she swung) is that there wasn't enough character to work with. She seems to really thrive on pieces where you can love people while seeing them clearly - almost because you see them clearly.
